The 2012 World Series of Poker schedule was released earlier today. It seems like we just barely finished with the 2011 WSOP and here we are talking about next year’s event already. That’s not a complaint though, because I can always use an early warning when it comes to shelling out $10,000 for a seat at the Main Event.

The thing I like best about the WSOP is that it has a ton of different events at many different buyin levels. If $10,000 is a little steep, you can always play in one of the other events and have just as much fun. Plus, you won’t have to fight through a field of 5,000 players in other events.
Here’s a quick look at some of the biggest events for 2012:

2012 WSOP Online Satellites
The World Series of Poker isn’t exactly known for being easy on the wallet. The good news is there are going to be a lot of online satellite tournaments running between now and the beginning of the series. Most online satellite tournaments send players directly to the Main Event, but there are also a few satellite tournaments that will send you to side events.
Online poker sites are going to be hosting all kinds of promotions as WSOP season approaches. You can expect to see big freeroll tournaments, satellite contests and leaderboards. I am also expecting to see poker sites offer sponsorship deals to players who qualify online and make it to the final table of any event.

Carbon Poker (for USA Players)
Carbon Poker is the biggest poker site for USA players right now and it is sure to have the best lineup of WSOP 2012 satellites. Carbon Poker has bigger tournaments than any other USA poker site which means more WSOP seats, cheaper tournaments and more chances to win.
PokerStars (for everyone else)
PokerStars is the biggest and best tournament site in the world. USA players are not accepted here but everyone else is. PokerStars has sent more players to the WSOP (and more Main Event winners) than any other poker site on the planet. You won’t find a better place to play in 2012 WSOP satellites than PokerStars.
888 Poker
888 Poker is another huge poker site with plenty of player traffic. After watching 888 Poker explode in 2011, I am expecting to see more big things from this poker site. You can be sure to find many satellite tournaments and WSOP-related promotions at 888 Poker.
