The 5 Best Free Poker Tools

pokertools

Today, I would like to present the five best free poker tools on the internet. This list is short, but it’s full of free poker tools that are actually useful. These aren’t cheesy tools that you will never use and these are not free trial tools that expire after a few weeks. Every tool on this page is completely free and will help you become a better poker player.

Consider this a late Christmas gift.

1. Poker Discussion Forums

Poker discussion forums are listed first because they are by far the most valuable free poker tool in the world. If you were going to be stranded on an island with a computer and internet connection, this would be the tool you would want to pick.

Poker discussion forums are immensely valuable because they allow you to discuss poker strategy with some of the most skilled poker players in the world. If you participate in the discussions, analyze hands and post your own hands, you will learn new things and get a lot of useful exercise for your brain’s poker muscles.

I am being dead serious here. Poker strategy forums taught me everything I know about advanced poker strategy. Two of the best poker forums that I know of are TwoPlusTwo.com and FlopTurnRiver.com.

2. Poker Stove

Poker Stove is an equity calculator that you can use to help study poker hands and find the most profitable play based on the information available to you at that time. Poker Stove is not something to use at the tables; it’s a tool that you use to review old hands and study hypothetical situations. It sounds a little boring, but it is a hugely important tool in any serious player’s arsenal.

3. Free Drag the Bar Membership

Drag the Bar is a poker training site that is ran by some of the best poker players in the world. The training site consists of poker strategy videos, advanced strategy articles, poker discussion forums and much more. This is the type of tool that can turn losers into winners and winners to even bigger winners.

DragtheBar.com normally costs $30 a month, but you can get it free through Carbon Poker. You can read all the details at this old blog post:

4. PokerHand.org

PokerHand.org is a free service that allows you to copy/paste hand histories from any poker site into a converter that makes those hands easier to read. This allows you to discuss hands with other people and view hand histories in a format that is much easier to follow. Hands posted to PokerHand.org can be converted to a basic text format or replayed in a hand replayer.

5. Sharkscope.com

Sharkscope.com allows you to search for any poker player by username and see how well that person does in SNGs and MTTs. For example, I just ran a search for “sa1251” on the Merge Gaming Network and saw that this player has played in more than 4,000 tournaments and has accumulated more than $50,000 in profits. I now know to not play that person in any heads up SNGs.
