PokerStars Goes Mobile in the UK

pokerstarsmobile

PokerStars unveiled a mobile poker client for its UK player base on Tuesday. The new PokerStars mobile app is available for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android mobile devices. You can visit the apps store for your phone or receive a direct download link by typing in your number at PokerStarsMobile.com.

The new PokerStars mobile app is only available to players in the UK but we expect to see new markets added in the future. The client supports all Texas Holdem/Omaha ring games and tournaments and does not separate mobile players from the rest of the poker site. In other words, you’ll get to play with the entire PokerStars player pool when you use the mobile version.

In a first for mobile poker, this app will even let you multi-table. You can join up to four tables on the iPhone and iPod touch, five tables on the iPad and three tables on the Android. The ability to multi-table is a first for mobile poker.

How to Get Started

If you don’t already have a PokerStars account, you’ll need to download the desktop version of the software and create an account at your PC. After you have an account, you can get the PokerStars mobile client from the Android Market or App Store. You can also visit PokerStarsMobile.com to receive a direct download link via text message.

Any time you want to play PokerStars mobile, just load up the app on your device and enter your account name and password. The mobile client will load up the games and you can get right to the action. PokerStars recommends that you use a Wi-Fi connection whenever possible, but you do have the option to play on 3G.

  1. Create a PokerStars account on your regular computer if you don’t already have an account
  2. Visit the App Store or Android Market
  3. Search for “PokerStars”
  4. Install the mobile client
  5. Log in with your existing PokerStars username and password

Missing Features

The PokerStars mobile client is surprisingly full-featured for a mobile poker device. The mobile client offers all Texas Holdem and Omaha games that you would be able to find on a regular computer. Other game types are missing right now, but this is by far the most complete mobile poker app I’ve seen yet.

You will also not be able to access the cashier from the mobile app. If you want to deposit or withdraw, you need to log in to your account at a regular PC or Mac. You will also not be able to take player notes in the mobile poker app. These few missing features aren’t major and will not detract from the overall mobile experience.
