Best Mobile Poker Downloads for February 2012
A few mobile poker downloads have been introduced to the market in recent years, but mobile poker has had a tough time catching on. Party Poker and Full Tilt both released mobile poker applications a couple years ago but both ended up withdrawing those applications. Full Tilt has since gone out of business for unrelated reasons.
Right now, there aren’t many options for mobile poker. We do know of a couple mobile poker downloads offered by no-name poker sites, but we don’t yet know enough about those sites to feel comfortable recommending them to our visitors. When it comes to real money poker, it’s always smart to let a poker site establish itself before you deposit.
Although multi-player poker isn’t available on a widespread basis, we do know of an online casino that offers mobile video poker. This is a far cry from traditional poker, but video poker is actually a lot of fun. If you’d like to give mobile video poker a try, we recommend the following download:
888 Poker
You can get started with mobile video poker by visiting the 888 Poker website and then clicking on the “casino” link at the top of the page. The 888 Casino website has an instant play button that you can click on to play casino games with your phone. You can practice with fake casino chips or sign up for an account and play for real money.
Free Mobile Poker Downloads - A Definition
In order for you to be able to play online poker from your phone, you will have to find a site that offers a free mobile poker download. This is fairly difficult right now because there are no mainstream poker sites that offer multi-player poker on mobile devices. A few poker sites have tried, but it hasn’t yet caught on.
There are two major issues with mobile poker that need to be solved. The biggest issue is connectivity. People tend to time out a lot at mobile poker sites due to spotty internet service and inattention to the tables. As mobile internet technology improves, this should become less of a problem.
Another issue with mobile poker is getting mainstream acceptance from cell phone providers. For example, the Apple App store has an anti-gambling policy and somehow equates poker to gambling. This issue can be overcome, but it has slowed things down a bit.
Future of Mobile Poker Downloads
To put it simply, mobile poker is inevitable. Everything is becoming mobile these days. Cell phones are connected to the internet 24/7, tablet computers are widespread and wireless internet providers can keep you connected on the go. It’s only natural that online gaming will follow this same trend of shedding the tethers of home networks.
Mainstream poker sites will eventually get back into mobile poker, but they seem pretty busy with more pressing matters. For one, they have to deal with varying legal environments around the world. Additionally, they are still competing furiously for a foothold in the home computer market. As that market becomes saturated, we will see more poker sites experiment with mobile poker.
It would be nice to see another mobile poker application similar to the Rush Poker app released by Full Tilt a few years ago. Rush Poker was perfect for mobile poker because it moved at a fast paced, kept a large player base and didn’t suffer from interruptions when people left the table or neglected their phones. Rush Poker was probably a pretty good example of what mobile poker will look like in the future.
